What is Vaping?  Can it Help Me Quit Smoking?

In 2014, the Oxford Dictionary word of the year was ‘vape’.  But, what exactly is vaping? And can it help me quit smoking for good??


The Oxford Dictionary defines vaping as, ‘to inhale and exhale the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device.’  

  • Electronic cigarettes, often called vapes or ecigs, are handheld devices that heat specific liquids, usually containing nicotine, into vapor.  Instead of burning tobacco the way traditional cigarettes (known as ‘analogs’) do, ecigs work by utilizing energy pulled from a battery to heat a metal coil saturated in eLiquid, turning that liquid into vapor.

  • Vapes typically work with four main components; a battery, the device itself, an atomizer, and eLiquid.  

As people who were once newcomers to vaping ourselves, we know that making the switch from analogs to vaping can seem daunting.  All ‘vapers’, an individual who uses electronic cigarettes, were once new to vaping at some point or another.
